I got a $15,000 dollar scholarship to a private Catholic college. I've always felt a little conflicted about that. I chose to go to a school that would not support my right to choose- even if the lay Catholics ignore their prohibitions against birthcontrol and such. But, I got good vibes from the school. Its affiliated with the United Nations. It has a service trip to Guatemala. Required community service. But things like this make me wish that I had chosen a 'liberal commie school'*
Amnesty International has confirmed its controversial decision to back abortion in some circumstances, replacing its previous policy of neutrality.
I did research on Amnesty for a school team- and frankly, its about time. Reproduction and sexuality is just as big of a tool for oppression as waterboarding and forced slavery. Most of the kids in my new school will probably love this. But the priests?
Christian organisations, including the Roman Catholic Church, have threatened to withdraw support from the group.
Why? Because its one less soul to convert? One less baby that dies to bury? Will one extra suffering child and scarred mother earn you more points with the Big Guy? In some places, still borns are considered LUCKY. Why do numbers matter? Wouldn't you rather have strong, healthy faithful instead of the dead? Oh well.
